Botox has certainly earned its place as an excellent treatment for the wrinkles that form during facial expressions. Frown lines, forehead creases, crow’s feet and even the bands in the neck can be effectively treated with Botox. Some facial sculpting can also be performed by using Botox to bring about subtle changes in the eyebrow position.
Botox can have an effectiveness that varies just a bit from individual to individual. Therefore, Dr. Mosser uses a precise mapping technique to ensure uniform results, and to develop a treatment plan that is uniquely tailored to each individual patient. All of the injections performed in our office are done by Dr. Mosser himself. The benefits are predictably reliable and there is minimal discomfort from his extra gentle technique. Excessive sweating of the underarm, scalp, palms or other areas is a serious inconvenience for many people. It has recently been discovered that Botox is an excellent treatment for excessive sweating and can help individuals return to a normal lifestyle without worrying about perspiration even under generally stressful situations. Best of all, the treatment for sweating lasts considerably longer than the effect of Botox Cosmetic treatments, and may only need to be performed one to two times per year in order to maintain the desired result.
Dr. Mosser is proud to be a leader in therapy with Sculptra. San Francisco is one of the most popular areas for Sculptra use, and Dr. Mosser has performed hundreds of Sculptra injections to refresh and rejuvenate faces.
Youthful faces are full, round and soft, but the gradual loss of fat with age will take its toll with time. Considered by many to be the ‘next big thing’ in soft tissue augmentation, Sculptra adds volume to thin, aging faces. It works both by filling in lines and wrinkles and by stimulating your body to produce new collagen and soft tissue. This results in a fuller, more youthful appearance.
Facial fat loss, or lipoatrophy, is the loss of fat beneath the skin. This can result in sunken cheeks, indentations and hollow eyes. Sculptra provides a gradual increase in skin thickness, which improves the appearance of the deeper folds and sunken areas. While the results of other fillers such as Restylane and Cosmoplast last only a few months, Sculptra can last two years or more because it causes the body to produce more of its own collagen. Other than short-term swelling and redness, side effects of the procedure are quite minimal.
Sculptra is also FDA-approved for the facial wasting that occurs with some medicines used to treat the HIV infection. It can erase the gaunt facial appearance, which, for some, has become an unsightly reminder of their condition. Dr. Mosser works closely with the Sanofi-Aventis company to provide financial assistance for HIV patients who qualify. Often, the product can be acquired at no cost to the patient! This is potentially a savings of thousands of dollars for a full course of treatment with Sculptra. Bay Area patients have benefited from this opportunity, so please feel free to call or schedule a consultation with us for details on treatment for facial lipoatrophy.
Restylane is a form of an injectable filler that functions similar to a collagen injection, but lasts longer (usually 6-9 months, depending on the area injected). It is made of a substance called “hyaluronic acid,” which is a normal component of all living organisms and occurs naturally throughout the human body. Like collagen, this treatment results in a bit of swelling in the treated area for a few days, but within one week the beneficial results of increased natural fullness can be enjoyed.
San Francisco Restylane patients as well as Bay Area Restylane patients prioritize a moderate, natural and not-overdone appearance. Dr. Mosser is a specialist in techniques that balance the filler material with your facial structure in order to produce a gentle enhancement that conforms beautifully to your own natural beauty.
Are you looking for a longer-lasting filler available in the Bay Area? Radiesse (formerly known as Radiance) is another injectable substance which can be used to fill in wrinkles and lines. Radiesse is made up of tiny particles of the same calcium compound that is found in the bone (hydroxyapatite). The duration of results achievable with Radiesse is excellent, as these treatments can last well beyond a full year. A touch-up treatment may sometimes be necessary to help maintain the effect after a year or two. For a long-lasting result in a tissue filler, Radiesse is an excellent option. Come in to see Dr. Mosser and discover whether Radiesse is a good option for you.
Collagen, a natural component of the skin, is part of the underlying support structure of the skin’s deeper layers. As we age, our collagen framework becomes thinner and provides less support, causing our skin to form wrinkles over time.
Cosmoderm® / Cosmoplast® are products which are a form of human collagen grown in the laboratory. They are injected very close to the skin to fill the facial wrinkles and to provide support and volume for areas such at the lips which can appear thinner with age. The results usually last about three to five months. This varies between individuals and also depends on the area that has been treated. There is some mild swelling after treatment, but in most patients the swelling resolves in just a few days. Dr. Mosser is an expert in this area of rejuvenation, and this procedure is both cost-effective and requires little “down time”.
Juvederm is a brand new injectable filler that is much like Restylane in that it is made of a substance called “hyaluronic acid,” but it is different in that it is much easier and less painful to have administered. The duration is similar to Restylane, usually 6-9 months, depending on the area of the face that is treated.
Dr. Mosser is one of few physicians approved to inject Juvederm in San Francisco ahead of the national release of this medication in January of 2007. Dr. Mosser is actively treating patients with Juvederm now, to rave reviews. With less pain, less swelling and a smoother endpoint than other fillers, Juvederm is one treatment that is here to stay.
