Latisse (eyelash growth)

LATISSE Treatments in San Francisco, CA

Lash enhancement has been around since around 4000BC, when wealthy citizens would apply a mixture of soot and other dark compounds to lashes and brows.

Today, mascara is the most widely used makeup product, with about 83% of American women using it. In the search for longer, fuller lashes, women look not only to mascara, but also to techniques like false eyelashes and eyelash extensions. False eyelashes are short-lived and easily separated from the eyelid, while eyelash extensions are expensive at prices ranging from $200-600.

LATISSE is the first and only prescription treatment FDA-approved to promote eyelash growth and act as a solution to hypotrichosis. Dr. Mosser has begun offering LATISSE treatment to patients with reduced eyelash growth or those desiring longer, fuller eyelashes. From the makers of BOTOX, LATISSE affects the anagen (growth) phase of the eyelash hair cycle.

Latisse Before and After

It works in two ways, increasing both the length of the anagen phase and the number of hairs grown in this phase. Its 0.03% bimatoprost ophthalmic solution provides gradual growth. Most clinical trial participants saw significant improvement in lash growth and fullness after two months, with full results occurring at 12 or 16 weeks.

LATISSE is proven to be highly effective, with eyelashes typically growing 25% longer, 106% thicker and 18% darker with regular use. LATISSE is compatible with cosmetic use, such as mascara and eye shadow. The product is applied daily directly to the eyelid with a sterile, disposable applicator and can be used in addition to mascara.

If LATISSE application is stopped, eyelashes will return to their previous appearance within several weeks or months. Those considering LATISSE should receive a professional evaluation to be sure they are good candidates for the treatment.

Prospective users are encouraged to partake in a short visit with Dr. Mosser in his San Francisco office to make sure Latisse is right for them. As all patients are different, results are expected to vary, with a minimum 6-8 weeks to notice results. Dr. Mosser offers the kit (a 1-month supply) for $120.
