Collagen
Collagen, a natural component of the skin, is part of the underlying support structure of the skin’s deeper layers. As we age, our collagen framework becomes thinner and provides less support, causing our skin to form wrinkles over time.
Cosmoderm® / Cosmoplast® are products which are a form of human collagen grown in the laboratory. They are injected very close to the skin to fill the facial wrinkles and to provide support and volume for areas such at the lips which can appear thinner with age. The results usually last about three to five months. This varies between individuals and also depends on the area that has been treated with collagen. There is some mild swelling after treatment with collagen, but in most patients the swelling resolves in just a few days.
