Bay Area Lower Body Lift Surgery

If you're considering a lower body lift in the San Francisco:

Body Lift Surgery Specifics—What You Can Expect

Dr. Mosser performs lower body lift surgery in several locations in San Francisco. Plastic surgery procedures may be scheduled for the surgery center located at 450 Sutter in Union Square, as well as California Pacific Medical Center, St. Francis Memorial Hospital and St. Mary’s Medical Center in San Francisco.

Lower body lifts require incisions. The size and position of the incisions depend on a variety of factors, including the amount and location of the excess skin to be removed, personal preference, and surgical judgment.

Advancements in the procedure allow many of these incisions to be largely unnoticeable, often hidden by clothing and even swimsuits. Well before surgery, Dr. Mosser will discuss with you in detail the type and location of incisions that will best meet your personal goals. Other body contouring surgeries may be performed in conjunction with your lower body lift, including liposuction, a tummy tuck, a breast lift, or breast reduction.

For example, a combination of lower body lift and liposuction may be used to improve body contour around hips and buttocks. A lower body lift is most commonly performed under general anesthesia, although local anesthesia and sedation may also be used. Dr. Mosser will discuss these alternatives well before surgery. Usually a hospital stay of 1-2 days is necessary after surgery.

Post Body Lift Recuperation

The day after surgery you will experience swelling at the incision sites as well as general discomfort. These are normal. Dr. Mosser will help you control pain with medication. Dressings and bandages may be applied to your incisions and the sites may be wrapped in an elastic bandage to ease swelling and to help your tissue support your new contours as you heal.

Dr. Mosser may apply a small tube near the incision site to help drain excess fluid and blood. He will give you detailed instructions about caring for the surgical sites and drains. He may also give you topical and oral medications to aid healing and reduce the potential for infection.

You will be urged to begin light walking as soon as possible in order to reduce the risk of blood clots and other complications. You must avoid bending, straining, or lifting for several days following surgery. If surgery has helped tighten the abdomen or thighs, you may also be instructed to avoid standing upright and to sleep with pillows elevating your knees.

The incisions will begin healing after seven to fourteen days, after which sutures will be removed. You can plan to resume work and your normal routine after a few weeks time so long as you avoid lifting and vigorous activity.

Results—the Amazing New You

You’ll see the results of your lower body lift almost immediately, though it will take several weeks for swelling to subside. Numbness on the skin surface will fade over the next few weeks to months. As long as you maintain your weight and general fitness, the new tone and contours of your body will be long lasting.
