If you're considering liposuction surgery in San Francisco...
In your liposuction consultation with Dr. Mosser, you’ll
want to be as specific as possible in the goals you set
for your liposuction surgery. He will then be able to
give you a realistic idea of the results you can expect
from reduction in any of these areas of the body. In
some cases, the liposuction procedure will be performed by itself.
In others, it will be part of a more complex surgery
that may include a facelift,
cosmetic eyelid
surgery, a tummy
tuck, or any number
of other cosmetic surgery procedures.
The Best Candidates for Liposuction
When you identify specific goals, it will be much easier
to determine whether or not liposuction is for you.
Additionally, some San Francisco liposuction candidates are better
suited than others.
- Are you within 30-percent of your ideal body weight?
- Do you have any life-threatening illness or medical condition?
- Do you have diabetes?
- Do you have high blood pressure?
- Do you have heart disease?
- Have you had previous surgery to the region of your body where liposuction will be performed?
- Do you have reasonably good muscle tone?
- Do you have firm, elastic skin?
Dr. Mosser will review these questions with you in detail. It is crucial
during this consultation that you disclose your entire health history.
This includes the medications you currently take, along with vitamin
and herbal supplements and your use of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.
The success of your liposuction procedure depends on your complete candor
and on your willingness to unswervingly follow Dr. Mosser’s instructions
before and after surgery.
Surgery Specifics—What
You Can Expect from Liposuction
Dr. Mosser performs body
contouring in several locations
in the San Francisco Bay Area . Plastic surgery procedures
may be scheduled for his office at 450
Sutter Street in Union Square, as well
as California Pacific Medical Center and St.
Mary’s Medical Center in San Francisco .
On the day of liposculpture surgery, the type of anesthesia used will be determined
by the specific nature of the liposuction. It may include
any of the following:
- local anesthesia
- sedation
- general anesthesia
Small and inconspicuous incisions are made in the skin at the area
to be suctioned. These incisions are usually hidden in
the body’s
natural creases and contours. Some are so small that they
don’t require
stitches. Most are not noticeably visible once they’ve healed.
During the liposuction surgery, a thin hollow tube called
a cannula is
inserted into these incisions where it is used to dislodge
the excess fat. The fat is then suctioned out of the
body using a surgical vacuum or syringe attached to the
cannula (generally, a syringe is used when the area to
be suctioned is small and isolated, or
when the excess fat will be reprocessed to be injected
into another part of the body, to fill
in skin wrinkles,
for example).
